Care Instructions for Hemp Jewelry Hemp is a very durable material, and can take quite a beating. The more you wear it, in fact, the tougher the piece becomes as the fibers start to tighten in together. Since the hemp that I use is waxed, it can take a little bit of water, however unless you want to soften the fiber quickly, I would recommend to stay away from immersing it in water.
