Artisan Raku Pendant on Y Hemp Necklace
This raku pendant by Odd Designs is a pure work of art - the colors that ripple, shine, and race their way across the surface will make you just stare at the piece, and just when you think you've seen all of the secrets that it has to offer you'll see yet another flash. Raku is a type of high fire ceramic that is baked quickly at 1800 degrees, smoked, and then quickly cooled. The glaze used in the process produces some of the most vibrant colors that you have ever seen, and this is a perfect example of it.

For the hemp work, I wanted to keep all eyes on this raku pendant, so I worked a y necklace design that complements the piece without overwhelming it. Fishbone and alternating square knots go up the middle, and then goes out to normal square knots to tie securely in the back. This necklace can be tied up to 17 inches in length, and the Y part goes down a good 5 inches, with a 2 1/2 inch width.
